My wee one is gearing up to start solids in a little bit, and I wanted to be ready. Sure, I could go out and buy a cheap pack of bibs and be done with it, but something in me always seems to think I need to give myself more work – as if raising 3 kids, keeping a house, cooking for everyone and keeping up with the demands from a significant other isn’t enough.
So, of course I think to myself, “Self, I bet you could make a super cute bib for that baby over there! I bet it would be vibrant, washable, and super cute in your own quirky, blocky, type style.”
And, so it was born. The “Sweet like Sophie” crocheted baby bib.
Pattern: Using any cotton worsted weight yarn, and a 5mm crochet hook.- Chain 25, and sc into the second ch from hook.
- *Sc across, ch 1. Turn and repeat from * for 25 rows.
- Turn and sc around all edges, doing 3sc in each corner.
- *ch 1 and turn. sc 4. Rep from * 30 times.
- *ch 1 and turn, 2sc. Rep from * 2 times
- After the last 2sc, ch 3. sc into second ch from hook, and sc into the last ch.
- ch1, turn and sc into 2 previous sc, twice.
- Knot, and use a long tail to attach this last section of 2 sc’s to the last row of 4sc’s to form a button hole.
- Attach button where you would like it, mend in ends, and ta-da!

I love this bib. Unfortunately, my kids are too old for bibs now (although they still need them, apparently)
Question – could I adjust the pattern and size to accommodate myself? I have that boob-shelf-catches-food thing going on…
